Increasing the efficiency of teaching mathematics


Elaborating an application for financing an educational project from the European Social Fund during the new 2014‑2020 programming period



The workshops are designed for mathematics teachers from upper secondary schools. The objective of the training is to present the possibility of using the Educational Value Added (EVA) method for the assessment of efficiency of teaching mathematics within the scope required for the final examination and to discuss the methods of teaching mathematics with regard to the skills specified in the core curriculum.


The following issues will be discussed during the training:

  • Teaching strategies in the light of general requirements regarding the training of mathematical skills.
  • Modelling as the basic mathematical skill. Elaboration of problems in mathematical modeling and solving strategies.
  • EWD 100 Calculator as a tool for measuring the efficiency of teaching mathematics at upper secondary schools.

The final element of the training will be the presentation of the scope of the application and the next steps relative to the process of elaboration and submission of applications for funding. Individual consultations will be provided and are included in the price of the training.

Henryk Dąbrowski

Coordinator of the final examination in mathematics at the Regional Examination Commission in Łódź. Active participant of the works of the Central Expert Mathematicians Team, operating within the framework of the Central Examination Commission.

Expert involved in the Educational Added Value Team

Ewa Stożek, PhD

Consultant and expert at PCG Polska. She combines many years’ experience in working for various educational institutions with practice as training instructor. She is a mathematician by education. She holds a ostgraduate diploma in educational institutions management and in evaluation of projects co‑financed from EU funds. During the years 2004‑2012, she worked at the Research and Analysis Department of the District Examination Commission in Łódź.

Since 2005, she has been involved in the Educational Added Value Team and during the years 2012-2015, she was the eader of the EVA Team at the Educational Research Institute in Warsaw. She is the author of articles and training materials on the use of examination results in educational management.

The workshops are organized for about 20 participants from several entities in a given region. We provide coffee and lunch during the breaks in the workshops. The cost of participation per person is PLN 279.
