Sheltered accommodation and independence-training facilities: between home care and institutionalization
2017-10-02

How can you effectively support independence among the elderly and/or dependent people? Is it possible to avoid premature placement in a social care home while reducing the cost of care for the public sector?

Analyzes carried out by PCG Polska, commissioned by the Ministry of Health, summarized in the Report "Creating and operating sheltered accommodation and independence-training facilities: analysis of model solutions." help answer these questions.

The study presents model solutions for running these types of premises, taking into account the average costs of creation, operation and levels of residents' payments. The conducted research confirmed the benefits of increasing the offer of sheltered accommodation and independence-training facilities both for the public sector and private entities. It also illustrated possible savings associated with the deinstitutionalization of the care system.
