New technologies in eldery home care services – a report for the Mazovia Social Policy Center
2017-11-30

The direction of demographic processes in Poland creates the need for a change in the current model of the elderly care at the level of local government units. In response to the diagnosed challenges the PCG Health team in Poland – commissioned by the Mazovia Social Policy Center – prepared a report on telecare services. Implementation of telecare supports the independence of senior citizens in their homes, postponing the need to use long-term care facilities and thus ensuring high financial efficiency for the social and health care systems.

The publication covers the characteristics of the Polish market of telecare solutions, including the dissemination of telecare systems in different regions of the country, as well as an overview of available technological solutions along with their advantages and disadvantages. Further analyses include organizations active in this area – especially in terms of potential cooperation with local authorities and public sector institutions – and potential sources of obtaining funds for new implementations.

As an inspiration for action and illustration of good practices, the report introduces case studies from both Poland and abroad, along with implementation and systemic recommendations. We believe this publication can help interested parties navigate the still-young and very dynamic telecare market. The report (in Polish) is available at the Mazovia Social Policy Center's website.
